A road journey of about two hours from Kurnool brings one to Mantralayam on the banks of the River Tungabhadra. It was here that the Madhwa saint Sri Raghavendra attained ‘Samadhi” some three centuries ago. People belonging to various sects throng the temple throughout the year. Lying close to the Karnataka border, it gets a lot of devotees fro that State too.
The nearest railhead is Mantralayam on the Madras – Raichur route and the nearest city is Kurnool, about 70 km away. Buses are run regularly from Hyderabad and Kurnool.
