Papikonda Wildlife Sanctuary
It is located at East Godavari and Khammam districts. Its area is 591 sq km. Dry deciduous teak forest with Bamboo, Terminalia, Pterocarpus, etc. and other species conforming to the Eastern Ghat vegetation are found here. Animals found are Tiger, Panthar, Gaur, Cheetal, Chowsingha, Sambar, Black Buck, Mouse deer, Barking, Sloth bear, Wild boar, Marsh crocodile and a variety of birds – both resident and migratory. Accommodation is available at the Forest houses at Rajahmundry, Maredumilli and Kannapuram. Best season to visit October to May.
