Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary

Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1974. Its total area is 369 Sq. km. Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the banks of Chambal river in Mandsaur District of Madhya Pradesh at Rajasthan border. Leopard, Bear, Blue Ball, Chinkra, Wild Boar, Wild dog, Fox, Wild Cat, Jackal and various types of birds are found here. Chaturbhuj, an ancient temple is located inside the sanctuary. Every year a fair is organized here. Thousands of people came here to attain this fair. The River Chambal and the Gandhi Sagar dam are also very good touring spots. The Scenic beauty of the sanctuary area has increased after the construction of the Gandhi Sagar Dam. Means of travelling inside the area is self-owned four wheeler vehicles. Circuit House and a Rest House of the Water Resource Department are available for accommodation.

Best season to visit is April to May. Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary is open throughout the year.

Air: Nearest Airport is Udaipur  which is just 220km from Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.

Rail: Nearest Railway Stations are Shamgarh, Bhawanmandi and Neemuch.

Road: Nearest Bus stands are Mandsaur, Neemuch and Kota.
