Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary


Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1981. The total area is 511 sq. km. Ghatigaon Sanctuary is also known as the Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary. Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary is situated near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. This sanctuary is house of a significant number of great Indian bustards. The Wild boar, Fox, Hyena, Chital, Black buck, Monkey, Wolf, Blue bull etc. are also found here. Khair, Murjan, Palash, Seja, Dhawada, Royenja, Ghote, Beweg, Dhaman, Salai, Heans, Katli etc. are principal flora. ‘DhuanHanumanTemple’. ‘Dev-cave’, ‘Gupteshwar Temple’ is some nearby religious spot are found here. Sonagiri, Jhansi, Chanderi, Gwalior, Datia, Orchha, Shivpuri etc. are also nearby tourist spots. Tourism Development Corporation have many vehicles. Private hotels are available for accommodation.

Best season to visit is November to June.
