Chaumukha Jain Temple

Ranakpur is situated 85 km from Udaipur. Ranakpur is one of the five holy places of the Jain community. These temple were created in the 15 th century and those are constructed on an extensive platform and the whole edifice is made up of domes and towers, courtyards and cells each with a pyramidal roof. The central temple Chaumukha is a three storeyed structure, with 29 halls, 80 domes and 1,444 pillars and no two pillars are alike. Every pillar is most intricately curved with equal delicacy. The graceful settings of pillars, the admixture of domes of different hides with flat ceiling, and the mode in which light in introduced, combined to produce a magical effects, and speaks a volumes about architectural capabilities of the people of those days.

Muchhal Mahaveer

Muchhal Mahaveer

Muchhal Mahaveer : This Jain temple is situated in the Kumbhalgarh sanctuary. The Jain temple is a contemporary of the Ranakpur temple. Its distinctive feature is the statue of Lord mahavira with a moustache. The two statues of elephants guarding the gateways are splendid examples of architecture. In the vicnity are the Ganeasia tribal villages famous for their colourful costumes.

Ghanerao : Ghanerao abounds in Jain and Hindu temples. Most notable is the temple of Gajanand with a life-size statue of the goddesses Ridhi and Sidhi. The statue is guarded by Hanuman and Bhairon on either side.

Excursion:

Desuri : Desuri is situated 16 km from Ranakpur. Three Jain temples, dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman and Navi Mata are among some noteworthy temples at Desuri. An old mosque situated here is also worth a visit. A temple dedicated to Parsuram Mahadeo, nestled in the hills, is also close by. It is situated in the Kumbhalgarh tehsil of Rajsamand.

Falna

Falna : Falna is situated 35 km is the railhead for Ranakpur. It has some beautiful temples too.

Sadri : Sadri is situated 8 km from Ranakpur. Famous for some beautiful temples and an old Dargah of Khudabaksh Baba. The Varahavtar Temple and the Chintamani Parsvanath Jain Temple is the most ancient of the temples situated here.

Narlai : Narlai is situated 6 km from Ranakpur. Lying at the base of a hillock, on the top of which is a colossal statue of an elephant, Narlai has many Hindu and Jain temples. The temple of Adinath is an ancient one. The outer ‘Mandap’ of the temple has beautiful mural paintings on its ceiling which still retain their original splendour. It is also a major pilgrim centre for Jain.
