Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is located 25 km from Agartala. The vast colony of residential and migratory birds makes Sipahijala Wildlife Sanctuary a lively attraction for birdwatchers. Just 30 km away from Agartala, it covers an area of 18.53 sq. km. For possession of which endangered wild species the state boast of that spectacle monkey or Chasma Badar is only found in this sanctuary. The sanctuary which houses a zoo, recreation ground, and botanical garden enriched with a variety of flora, orchid house etc. is about 30 km away from Agartala This sanctuary is a natural habitat for 53 species of carnivores, herbivores and reptiles. In winter Sepahijala Lake wears a fabulous look with floating flocks of local and migratory birds including moorhen, water cork, cranes, whistling teal etc. Beyond this, ride on elephant back; a ride on toy train and boating will make one spending a splendid weekend. In addition to this, its orchid garden and botanical garden unfailingly lure the visitors who come to eon a pin around the lake in a boat or take a joy ride in the toy train. It’s ideally located to soak in those spectacular views of the coffee and rubber plantations. There are a few tourist cottages in the sanctuary.
