Walter L. B. Granvilee designed Kanpur Memorial Church in Victorian Gothic style. The chancel floor is of Milton’s glazed tiles. Mrs. W. C. Plowden donated a handsome brass lectern and a font of pure white carrara marble was erected by the officers of the 2nd light cavalry. The interior contains monuments to the mutiny including several memorial tablets. To the east of the church is the Memorial Garden, approached through two gateways. Originally the statue and the screen stood in the Municipal Gardens in the centre of the city.
