Badrinath temple is situated at an altitude of 3133 meters. The temple was built by Adiguru Shankaracharya in ninth century AD. Tourists, both foreign and local considered the temple of Badrinath is very sacred place. It is one of the Dham (Holy temple) among four Dhams like Puri, Rameswaram and Dwaraka. Badrinath is also known as Tapobhumi (land of meditation and penance). The entrance to the shrine is of special significance. The temple of Badrinathji remains closed from October to April due to the winter snow.

Alka Puri: To the daring tourists, Alka Puri is a special interest. Alka Puri is the origin of Alakananda River. Satopanth, a triangular lake, is located at a height of 4402 meters and is one of the sources of the Alakananda River. It is named after the Hindu’s deity-Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

Mata Murti Ka Mela
On this day the mother of Shri Badrinathji is worshipped and a large fair held at the Badrinath Temple in the month of Septembar. According to a legend, when river Ganga descended on earth to help the suffering humanity, she spread into twelve channels. The spot where the river tumbled become Lord Vishun’s abode. The place came to be known as Badrinath. The Mata Murti Temple is dedicated to the mother of Sri Badrinathji.
